    Kilted Kiwi's in Dunedin ( Jacobites )

    Hi Everybody

One of my New Zealand kilted friends who lives in Oamaru ( a traditional bookbinder who wears kilts everyday ) sent me some photo's of a recent event that was held in the Southern city of Dunedin ( a very Scottish City ) . I don't know so much about the event in question but he sent me some great photos so I've added them to my webshots page. It shows a lot of my friends in Jacobite period highland wear as my friend who sent me the photo's was lucky to purchase quite a few large boxes of clothing from the BBC when they finished filming the movie Scottish movie " Kidnapped " in NZ a year or two ago. So now all my friends back home have Jacobite gear. You can check out the all photos by clicking on this photo link I'm going back to NZ this Nov for two weeks so I'll be able to met up with most of them and take some more photos , should be a lot of fun.

What a fine and jolly bunch of characters!

You are right in saying that Dunedin is a very Scottish place, one that the celts of the New World found a home. We are hoping to go there next year for a Scottish Country Dancing gathering.

Great to hear of a full time kilted brother there, if we get there I would love to meet him.

    Hi Graham

Yes it is , His name is Micheal O'Brien and he works out of the historic area of Oamaru not far from Dunedin. So if you're going to Dunedin you must spend a day or two in Oamaru at least ,as a lot of great things have happened in Oamaru over the years as the historic area is full of Victorian period shops & warehouses. Many of my friends including Micheal work out of this area. Micheal is the chap in the photos wearing the bright tartan jacket & maybe it's the Otago or Dunedin tartan I think ) Here is a link showing some Oamaru photo's http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/oamaru/...cPrecinct.html

Also I think you mentioned that you are a signwriter , so am I although now I teach English here in Japan , but I used to go to Tassie quite a lot as I used to build & race penny farthings at Evandale

Great photos - am I right that most of them were taken around the octagon and the Burns Statue? I'm another Kiwi on the forum - originally from Auckland.

Great pics! and of some nice folks.

Really like that key rig you've set up from the belt Ham, great idea.

My first time in the pub...looks like a fun place. Sadly, I never could enjoy in moderation so had to abandon some of the World's finest beverages.
