Funniest comment yet!
I had a couple of ladies in my workshop today, elderly mother and daughter. Naturally, being kilted it wasn't long before we were talking about Scotland when the mother casually said "you speak English well.."
I nearly cracked up, but contained myself for fear of offending her and just said "..that's because I was born there".

Crack me up, thanks for passing that on Graham.
I've developed a stock answer to, "Are you Scottish?" I just smile and say, "My ancestors were."
Seems to cut through the "Scottish-American" stuff.

At least your English was well Graham instead of being ill.
That's a gem.

Ron,
Thanks from an old Arizona boy...I think I will steal that response as well....I've started a book of snappy "adlibs" for when I do get my kilt.
