Kilt Hose Help
Ok, I Ordered A Pair Of Off-white Kilt Hose From Great Britain And Ordered It In My Shoe Size And I Am Absolutely Swimming In Them. I Haen't Worn Flashes Before But So Far Every Time I Take A Step They Fall Down. How Pathetic Am I? :-)
So, Is It Appropriate To Just Order Smaller And Not Wear Flashes Or Order My Size And The Flashes Are What Keeps Them From Falling Down?
Also, What Is The Standard Rule For Casual Sporran Wear?
Thanks Folks
Dave

There's a difference in UK and USA shoe sizes...that might be the reason.
Hose shouldn't drop instantly unless you have very thin legs...flashes will keep them up, but when they're really oversized...maybe wash them a tad bit too hot, so they'll shrink a bit (at own risk )

Casual sporran wear...a nice leather sporran...no fur. Best wear it with a leather strap...not the standard chain.
There's a 2nd hand Freelander for sale on the "Fore Sale" section...they're awesome casual sporrans.

I have never had a pair of hose that stay up (no elastic). What I do when I want to wear the hose up but no flashes (cold weather mostly) is to take the flashes off the elastic garter. The garter is hidden by the fold of the hose.

1) If you don't want to wear the flashes, just wear the garter - or a regular hair-tie large enough for your leg (you can "chain" a few together if needed to get around the leg).
2) You might stuff a few of those extra capital letters in around your calf...

I must concur with the other gentlemen here.
Use the garters with out the flashes and fold the hose down over them. You could always go for the scrunched down look when going casual.

Ditto. In fact, I went to the local craft store and bought strips of elastic and sewed velcro on them to make garters so I didn't have to dismantle my flashes. Cheap and easy.
