Kilts and Kimono
I worked the Indianapolis International Festival this Saturday for the Japan American Society. I was in the Kimono-try-on booth, right by where the pipe band started up. Some pictures!
The first couple of kilties to walk past.

The pipe band getting ready.

One of the kimono tryers watching the pipe band. A piper ran by as she was watching and I tried to get him in the background, but no such luck.

The same girl. She was so pretty.

Four sisters all trying on kimono.

Myself in kimono. I was the only one at the JASI booth wearing one! Even the Japanese ladies were like: Oh, they're so uncomfortable I don't know how you can wear one!
Uncomfortable? It's basically a robe! You want torture, try wearing pantyhose or high heels.

Very cool. My wife wants a kimono to wear around, I think it's because I have my kilts .

You look fantastic Red Lioness.
It pains my heart the Japanese wear the kimono and yukata so infrequently. Once I have my kilt I am going to try and organise a traditional dress party (Japanese in theirs and me in mine) with my friends, I doubt a lot of them will really like the idea though. Shame.

re: Red Lioness
You look very becoming in a kimono!
Have you considered posting this to www.kiltmen.com?

Trés groovy. You look great. Silk or cotton?
Carol would have loved the event. (Mother's maiden name: Erikawa)

"... Uncomfortable? ... You want torture, try wearing pantyhose or high heels." Shhhhh ... That's a post for a whole other forum.

Red Lioness,
You are kilted samurai.
Next time hold a katana, or at least a gunsen.
You look great.

What a great event!
Kimonos are beautiful clothing, and that's the truth.
