    Got a good laugh

Yesterday LaDonna and I made the two hour drive to Heidelberg to visit the post Craft Store and their much larger PX. While at the craft store looking for quilt fabric another guy there with his wife took one look at the kilt and avoided looking at me the rest of the time there. I was wearing my SWK Saffron and the Brotherhood of the Kilt T-shirt.

Got a few surprised looks when we were at TGIF eating a late lunch also.

Then we went to the PX. While looking at computers in the Power Zone a little girl about 4-5 said "that man's wearing a skirt". I looked back at that with a slight grin and the father grabbed her hand and rushed the family past and towards the door. I got a good laugh out of that.

A couple of folks wanted to look closer at the shirt and noted the kiltsrock.com and then asked if there was an event today. Each time I replied No it's just Saturday. The husband of the lady that asked that said it certainly looked comfortable. Another woman asked what clan it was so I told her the saffron kilts were Irish. She told me she was related to the clan Anderson but she didn't like the tartan because of the yellow in it.

As we walked out three Hispanic women outside talking stopped and stared open mouthed. Once I got past them I started laughing again.

Military and their family members seem to either ignore the kilt or provide reactions that are worth a good laugh. Yesterday most were worth the laugh.

    YMOS,
    Tony

    Tony,

Been my experience that your comment would apply to all families whether military or not.

Congratulations on wearing your kilt and thank you for your service.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.
