    Newbie in Idaho

Hi, all - I've been reading here for some time, and actually registered back in September, but am just now getting around to posting. I've been kilted just since this summer, my first being an olive twill mocker utilikilt, which I purchased for my wedding, August 19th. My wife tells me that if I'm good, Santa might even bring me another - time will tell, I guess. I live and work in Lewiston, ID, my "day" job working with kids with special needs as an intensive behavioral intervention professional, and when I'm not doing "kid training" I work as a dog trainer. Hobbies include pets (a 29 gallon aquarium, my fire-bellied toad tank, and four dogs (a labxchow mix I trained as a hearing dog for myself, the two golden retrievers my wife had when she hired me to help her with some training issues, and a rottweiler we adopted shortly before our wedding), bonsai (so far I've managed to kill several trees through my ignorance), and I've recently gotten interested in homebrewing, tho' my wife is encouraging me to let a friend of ours get into it first and then try to learn from his mistakes. I look forward to being a part of this group!

    Welcome Frog,

I work behavioral health too, outpatient. Did have to do a take down and restraint kilted a few months ago on a VERY agitated and VERY mature 12 year old. Was kilted throughout. Worked out okay.

    Kilts work most anywhere.

I have found in making bonsai trees that the whole experience is ultimately you asking the tree "Will you accept these compromises to what you want to be?" The tree either answers "Yes" and grows with the root trim, pruning, and wiring you have chosen. Or it answers "NO" and promptly withers and dies.
Part of learning unfortuately, is killing a lot of little trees until you get what compromises each tree is able to accept. The oldest bonsai I have made are a pair of Japanese Maples I planted as seedlings some 13 years ago, since that time I'll bet I've killed far more trees than you!

    Cheers

Welcome from sunny Florida! Starting my own aquarium right now, a 55 gallon. Want to send me some media to shortcut my cycling?
