007 kilted - 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'

I was watching a Bond film on tv recently, 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', one I hadn't seen before. All of a sudden, Bond (George Lazenby) steps out of a lift kilted!

Well, of course I immediately hit the record button. I have compiled a series of clips of Lazenby wearing the kilt, which I may say, he does admirably.

Apologies for the quality of the video, it was rather dark and though I have attempted to brighten it to depict the kilt more clearly, I still can't really see the tartan too well.

Anyway, here's the link to the footage - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm1OsytClzg

The kilt is Black Watch which he is wearing with Montrose Jacket and Jabot.

I like the way he drops his kilt at the end...
Guess he's not worried about getting wrinkles pleats!

Thanks for that info McClef. I suppose it had to be a 'neutral' tartan.

Good old Bond-san in his kilt. Shame it's such a formal outfit I reckon.

And what's wrong with formal attire? Would you expect any less from Bond?

Ahhh, the Kimono, the OTHER incredibly comfortable and good looking garment type that people in this country will look at you funny if you wear it out in public.

Bond was supposed to have had previous armed services experience but I thought it was naval, he does have the title of "Commander" which is not an army rank. But that way he cannot be linked with any individual clan and hence, as you say, neutral.

The comment on it "dropping", I guess most people react more to the girl saying "so it's true!" The girl pulls at the sporran and it comes away in her hand without any sign on screen of Bond having undone the straps...

Just as Lazenby was a "one off" so is Bond in a kilt.
