    Kilts and cold weather

Loving to wear my kilt and wearing it regimental to boot I am wondering how one goes about protecting the boys from frostbite!

    Any good ideas?

Sorry about that! There has to be one in every crowd. I expect that the others on the board will tell you that if the kilt is worn correctly, it keeps the heat from your body in the necessary places. After all, the place of origin of the kilt was fairly far north and chilly most of the time!

    Exactly right Splash_4!

If it is enough of a concern under the kilt, you will also want to consider your knees.

I just use an extra kilt sock and a freelander sporran lined with felt. It's a tight fit but it does the job.

More seriously, boxer briefs are fine in bitter cold weather.

Worsted Wool ones would be perfect, especially if they match the kilt.

Actually, heavy flannel would not get too many objections.
Though, down here it doesn't get cold enough to worry about it. I'd just go regimental (TMI).

By the way, just HOW cold does it get in an Arizona winter?

    ahead.

As it gets colder, I've noticed that when I lift me kilt to tap a kidney, I can feel the warmth when I let it drop again. I'm strictly regimental and will not wear small clothes [undergarments] under any circumstances. I'd say the kilt does a fine job of keeping the boys warm.

I'd say having your lower torso surrounded by 8 yards of heavyweight wool should be nice and cosy.
