Tonight we attended my wife's office Christmas dinner followed by a theatre visit (The Wiz).
A week or 2 ago her boss asked: "He's not going to wear that kilt thing is he?" So I went kilted...fully supported by Michelle
Since it was a dressy occasion (no black tie) I picked the following outfit:
-Isle of Skye kilt.
-Black barathea Argyll jacket and waistcoat...no belt.
-Off white hose and shirt.
-Ancient green tie and flashes.
-Black leather dress sporran with studded tassels, chrome cantle.
-Black brogues ("wingtips").
-Sgian dubh (from Rab Gordon).
It was a wonderful evening out...a perfect dinner and a good show (I'm not a big fan of musicals, but it was pretty good).
Had loads of lovely conversations, many were sincerely interested and I had to answer a truckload of kilt related questions.
"The" question wasn't asked, but someone told me a large chunk of the female staff spend some time debating the issue.
I never received this many compliments and smiles...from my wife's colleagues, restaurant and theatre staff and from people who visited the theatre. Not a single "funny" remark.
To all those who have a spouse thinking you're a nutter when you want to wear your kilt to a theatre...it's most likely the best occasion to change her mind once and for all.
