Ah, but which tartan?
We have a foreign exchange student from Germany living with us this year, and for Christmas she donned this skirt. It was a present given to her in Germany. Would any of you know which tartan it is?

We had a German exchange student live with us for a year when I was 15. A great experience. I haven't the foggiest idea what tartan it may be though.

I don't know for sure man, but can I come over? I speak some German.
Oh wait. I mean... Ich spreche etwas Deutsches!
I'm (mostly) kidding, she looks just a bit young. Good to see a lady wearing a kilted skirt though, rather than a men's kilt, personally I think that looks plain awful. It's a shame so many women do it.

I've had German Exchange Students the last 3 years, and one from Japan before that. This year we're taking a break.
She looks as if she's a beautiful young lady.
Sorry but I don't recognize the tartan either!

It's a nice looking tartan. It has a very traditional design to it, and greatly resembles some old tartans, such as Lochaber. However, I cannot find an exact match for it, and I have to conclude that it is most likely a fashion design.

You know we're tartan addicted if we look at a fine lass in a tartan skirt (of different lengths) and one of the FIRST things we think is . . . "What Tartan is THAT?"
I know I've become guilty. Thanks for the ID attempt, Matt. I was getting no where.
I hope she is enjoying it in Norway! It seems as if she has just taken a pic of you or someone and is musing as she looks at the result!
Also, is that printing on your son's (?) shirt he is wearing? I've not seen that on a button down over/down here yet. I'm curious as to what it says.

It looks familiar to me for some reason. I have probably seen it on a shirt or something, in which case it probably is a fashion tartan.

It looks familiar to me too but I've been unable to find it listed in my Scottish tartans book. I suspect its probably a fashion tartan from one of the Scottish knitwear shops - must look out for it when Ann drags me round the shops!
