New Old Clan Donald Book Due Out 2-15-07
Cost is given as $75 USD but Amazon is offering it for $47.25 prepublication price. Ordered up one myself this morning. Looks good.
Title is Clan Donald. Not sure what other book distributors might offer it too.
Here's the review of the content.
Based on the three volumes also entitled Clan Donald, first published between 1896 and 1904 by Rev. Drs. Archibald Macdonald of Kiltarlity and Angus Macdonald of Killearnan, Clan Donald covers a period of six hundred years, from the foundation of the Lordship of the Isles until 1746, when the clans ceased to exist as separate organized entities. Clan Donald is not the history of one clan, but of several important clans that descend from the old Kingdom of Macdonald. Each of these clans played its part in the history of Scotland until the final disaster of Culloden. Beginning with Somerled, and culminating in an overview of how the Celtic and Roman Churches were influenced by Clan Donald, this book is an all-encompassing reference book of interest not only to members of the Clan, but also to students of the Western Highlands and Isles. Chapters include "Angus Mor (1249-1300)," "John of Islay (1330-1386)," "The Macdonalds of Dunnyveg and the Glens," "The MacDonalds of Keppoch," and "After the Lordship." Illustrations of the arms of clans, photographs of the Scottish landscape, and genealogical charts, maps, and plans make Clan Donald an invaluable guide to what the high chief of Clan Donald calls "an exceedingly complex" history, "certainly not a history to be absorbed readily at a first reading."

Guess I should get honest...sure I'll slog through the history of the clan, but what I really want is to take the great crest of the eagle and boat on the bookjacket to my tattoo artist to get a tattoo of that Macdonald crest.
Gotta figure out where to put the tat before the book gets here. Not a lot of room left on my aging inked body.

New Old Clan Donald Book Due Out 2-15-07
Hi. I am newly registered on the site.
The book's description says it is "based" on the
material of A&A MacDonald. Does anyone know if
it contains all the old information, plus additional?
Or are there revisions to the source book?
Through dna genealogy I was lead to the Bohuntin branch
of the MacDonalds. I have the information from the
original book and would like to know if it would be worth it
to purchase this book. Thanks.

Just noted that this is the same description Ron sited, looks like it is just based on prior works

Well dang. After months of reminders from Amazon that the book isn't quite in yet they sent me one last year saying it wasn't gonna happen.
I'm on a clan website and see it...so went to Amazon and suddenly, out of the blue, no clue for how long, they have copies. Ten they said yesterday....nine today, because I got one of them.
Go figure where it suddenly emerged from. And on sale no less!!
I guess I'm a bit interested in the content...says its a tough read since its a reprint of old histories. I'm mainly interested in the art on the dust jacket for my next tattoo...if I can find open skin to put it on...
