Over a month kilted
I've been kilted full time since 14 Dec. It ends tomorrow as my PCS leave is up and the Army wants me in uniform. The whole time I was in TN, MO, traveled through AR, and in TX. Some highlights of the month follow.
Shopping for a new car for my wife in the Nashville area. At the Saturn dealer we met a retired COL of Scots decent that really liked the kilt (SWK Lamont). We spent as much time talking to him as to the salesman.
Going out to eat with my parents and granndmother, when we got to the table daddy was laughing. He was bringing up the rear of our group and had seen a guy look at me and say something to his wife and teenage daughter. The girl looked, turned back and and in an exasperated tone said "it's a kilt Dad".
While in MO, a lady asked if my legs weren't cold (wearing UK original). Told her no, to which she said she would be freezing but it looked good.
Once in San Antonio I was wondering how well it would be received. On post, I only got good comments. One retiree going into the Commissary nodded and said "there's a proper gentleman" (Mod MacCallum by Barb). One of my former NCOs is here for school and honked when he saw me. He said he saw the kilt and knew it had to be me.
At Wal Mart a little old lady rounded the corner of the aisle, patted me on the shoulder and said "I love your outfit" (SWK Lamont). As we were heading to the check-out, a group of teenage boys were coming in and one saw me and started yodeling.
At the North Star mall, a group of teenage boys walked past and one started humming the Olympic tune.
There have been several instances of of young guys telling their girl friends they want one as we walk by. A few stares that I've seen but nobody has said anything negative. My wife has gotten irked a couple of times by the stares but only mentions it to me when we are away from the gawkers.
Oh well, it's back to ACUs and boots tomorrow. The kilt will be back to being for relaxing and going out. Sorry this has gone long but my old laptop bit the dust and we've finally got a new one and an internet connection. Ya'll take care.
YMOS,
Tony

People make the oddest connections.

the worst ones are the ones who make no connection at all, and just make fools of themselves. Poor souls.

Ain't it great to be kilted full time?? Mostly fun meeting folks interested in why we're kilted too.
Guessing your time back in uniform will only increase your love of the freedom of kilts.

Kilting feels so comfortable it will feel awkward for you going back into trousers. I've been kilted every day since Christmas and now it seems the normal way to dress.
