    Kilted in Florida

I arrived in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday, kilted. The kilt opened up conversation with many people.

Today, I walked 7 miles south to the nude Haulover Beach, played two hours of volleyball, tanned an hour, and walked north 7 miles back to my resort. I made eye contact with all of the people I passed, and most returned the eye contact, checked out what I was wearing and continued on. On person yelled out of their passing car, "Nice skirt", but I found many women, just smiled.... they knew

In the elevator going down to the lobby, I entered a conversation with a woman who commented on my nice kilt. I said, I was a male advocate to wear whatever I wanted. I asked her what garment men wear, that women can't. Of course, she didn't have an answer, so I said, that I wasn't letting women get away with that. She laughed. A few moments later, she approached me and had me meet her friend (nice looking lady). They invited me up to their room for a party later in the week. ;)

    Sport Kilts in Florida

Ok...I now have four Sport Kilts. I wore my hiker down and back from Haulover Beach today, and wow... what a nice feeling with the ocean breezes swirling around. It's so light it's as close to being naked as you can be. I have my red hiker, my black Stewart and my Loch Ness with me. I've had nothing but compliments on them. Nice stuff, Seamus.

I left my hotel last night, as a lot of lovvvely 20-something young ladies were registering at my hotel. I figured they probably had something to do with the superbowl, but didn't confirm that till just now. As I left the hotel last night, I received quite a few smiles as I passed them in my SK red hiker, but today, at breakfast while wearing my SK black Stewart, one of the lovely lassies asked me if I was Scottish. I replied, no, that I was Canadian. She smiled and said, Oh... My bf is Scottish, and wears the MacLean tartan. I told her, that I just liked the comfort of wearing a kilt, and that my tartan was black Stewart. Many of her mates had gathered 'round by this time, and all were smiling. Did they know? ;) We chatted some more and I discovered, that all of these ladies, were in fact, here for the superbowl....they are the cheerleaders of all the NFL teams.

I left Ft. Lauderdale/Port Everglades on the HAL Maasdam and wore my three SKs throughout my cruise when clothing was required. I had nothing but compliments throughout my cruise (Bonaire, Curacao, Dominica, USVI and Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. I had many women in St. Thomas, give me glances that brought smiles to their faces. ;)

One man, asked me why I wore a kilt. I answered, "Do you ask all of the women who come in to your store, why they wear pants?" He thought that made sense. I then answered, that the kilt was a male garment, and that they were comfortable. He thought about it for a while, and then answered, "Yeah, I guess it allows you to be free." See, another one gets it!

I found the SK hiker to be very light in weight, but in 90F humid weather, perhaps my cotton one may have been cooler?

...and I was also, checked out by "ladies" <wink> but then, being on a clothing optional cruise, a body part is a body part. (We had to be covered if in the dining room for meals or when docked.)
