Water trap
Does anyone know or can recommend a good, inexpensive water trap? I have a few in mind, by want to see if anyone has a suggestion. Thanks

I don't use one myself, so have no advice for you. You may do better asking the question on the Bob Dunsire boards at http://www.bobdunsire.com.
There are several other pipers here, and one of them may have an answer for you, but the Dunsire forums are for pipers (well, and drummers too, provided they get someone to read it to them ) so you're more likely to get a good answer there.
Edit to add: A water trap is a device used in mouth-blown pipes to reduce the amount of moisture from your breath that gets to reeds; as they absorb moisture, their tone changes and they become more difficult to control. The Uillean pipes (and other bellows-blown pipes) don't use them.

Is it the same as what a trumpet has or something totally different?

A trumpet has a "spit valve", as do all brass instruments.

As for "inexpensive", it's hard to beat a length of plastic tubing with a cork in it, with a few holes in top towards the end.
For store-bought, Shephard's tube-and-bottle water trap is pretty cool.

Thanks PiobBear...I didn't want to spend $120 on a "moisture control system" just yet. The Shephard is one I had in mind.

Tom
