Sorry I can't help, but I like that one on the right. If you find info, please share.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

I found a site that sells them http://www.oatmealsavage.com/specials.ivnu, just turn down the sound on your speakers . Nice looking sporrans though, but for the price I'd go with a Freelander sporran (http://home.c2i.net/kilted_1/public_html/main.html).

Thanks Dave, actually that is where I got the picture. I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with them before I called David. They carry a hefty price...$295 , but they do look really nice.

I have also been considering the Freelander but the ones from Steve Harris have that beautiful carving....and cost almost twice as much...ouch.

They look nice and I'm sure took some work but I frankly don't see them as such a step above more pedestrian day sporrans from the likes of Janet Eagleton ( http://www.scottish-sporrans.co.uk/sporrans.html ) or the Nicoll Bros Bankfoot that was--- but perhaps some of the patterns will hopefully be resurrected by Margaret Morrison. There is, I think, a measure of elegance to their "more classic" (regimental inspired) designs. Its how sporrans have looked for longer than the last century. The Steve Harris sporran is fine but a bit too.. Rob Roy meets Tony Lama.

I couldn't agree with you more when I am dressed. I own six or seven "classic" sporrans but I am looking for a more casual look for a more casual outfit. Obviously not cheap but casual. The kilt is going to be a Olive Drab from Freedom Kilts (my first non-traditional by the way) I have been looking at the Freelander sporrans and then I saw these from Steve Harris.

I spoke with Charles from Oatmeal Savage today (yes I was calling him David) earlier in this thread...oops) he has a few more of these sporrans and he will send me pics which I will post when I get them. All of then are different apparently and Mr. Harris also does custom work so I might check into that.

As an independant crafter, I'd say buy one if you could. I am betting those took hours and hours to make, and he is probably barely getting anything in return after his supplies and what not.

Probably less than minimum wage per hours of work.

Points I hadn't thought of directly but what originally attracted me was a that it would be a piece that someone had put more than just time into. You can see there is definitely heart and soul in them.

When I make a hat and sell it for 20 bucks, it usually takes me all day or two days. About 5 bucks goes to yarn and another 2 bucks or so goes to paypal for the fees. I tend to make less than a dollar an hour.

Doing this has shed new light and appreciation on our esteemed kilt makers here, as well as our sporran makers and people who craft fine goods. In short and simple terms, they get gypped. And they don't have a lot of choice on the issue. Charge bare minimum or potentially lose a sale to imported sweatshop goods.

300 bucks is certainly worth paying on those sporrans if you can afford it.
