Edinburgh ("Auld Reekie") Pictures #3
The next instalment!
Edinburgh Castle from the Esplanade - much busier than Stirling was.
Looking down from the Esplanade to the start of the Royal Mile. The spire is of the Highland Kirk Tolbooth, and the cupola of the Camera Obscura can be seen.
The building immediately past the white building on the left is the Geoffrey (Tailor) mill and shop.
Statue of Frederick, Duke of York on the Castle Esplanade. He was the second son of George III and I believe the source of the famous "Grand Old Duke of York" nursery rhyme.
View of the eastern end of Princes St from the Castle Esplanade.
View over central Princes St towards the Kingdom of Fife.
View of Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags, it's many a long year since I last climbed to the top!
Andrew posing with a load of students on Earl Haig's statue on the Castle Esplanade.
