The Elder Scrolls: Truly a series for all ages.
Hello. I just have to discuss The Elder Scrolls with everyone, since it has really changed my life. Believe it or not, the game actually made me less anti-social, since the games are truly based on interaction. Truly a masterful series. I'll critique all of the 4 "main" games of the series, and we can get to a discussion hopefully.I don't know if this discussion is allowed, but here goes:
Elder Scrolls I: Arena - I have not played this one yet, but I hear it is a very good game.
Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall - Gaming paradise. The graphics are definitely not winning any awards, but the exploration and population are unmatched. Over 160,000 square miles of exploration, making it the largest game world in existence. The population is in excess of 250,000, all with unique names. Truly a masterpiece for the ages.
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Gaming Nirvana. This is truly an epic masterpiece of a game. The graphics are decent, the storyline is unmatched, the possibilities are endless, and the fun never ends. The Game of the Year edition adds even more content to an already awesome game, and amplifies its awesomeness to new heights. However, large though the game world may be, it is dwarfed utterly by Daggerfall, since Morrowind is only 14 square miles, but it feels like so, so much more. This is by far my favorite game of the series. I would reccomend this game to EVERYONE, young or old, who either has an Xbox or PC. This game will change your mind if you believe video games are only for kids.
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - A VERY GOOD game. The storyline is good, combat system and magic system are unmatched, and there are a modicum of side quests. Really the only problem is the simplified quests and locating objectives. In the past games, characters gave you directions that you needed to follow closely, in Oblivion however, you are given a compass with mission markers to tell you exactly where to go (probably because we live in a more "naive" age). But that's only minimally detracting from its value. The new Knights of the Nine expansion along with the others make this game rise to nearly godlike status, and the release of the next expansion, Shivering Isles, I'm sure it'll become a game masterpiece. It's definitely worth buying if you have an Xbox 360 or a very good PC.
So what do you think about the Elder Scrolls?
