in my mall last Saturday
A local pipe band is making it's way to Scotland shortly to compete in a band competition. Anyway, two of the pipers were in the shopping mall I work at selling tickets at a kiosk to raise money for their travel.
I was lucky, my friend Phil, happened to have his cell/camera on him and snapped this pic for me.
Apparently, the tickets are for some cool prizes people had donated. Grand Prize is a trip for two to Scotland!!!
here's the pic. Bit fuzzy, but you get the idea.

there are pipers everywhere here....well not really I exaggerate.
However, this time of year, every curling bonspiel starts and ends with a piper. Pipers at weddings, pipers at funerals. There is a Pipe and Drum school here that is quite well known. We sometimes have a piper at our waterfront for when cruise ships come in......I could go on.

Alex, pipes are not that uncommon in Canada, often times when I'm out in our rescue boat we enter harbour to the strains of a piper on the pier. Though he plays for the people not us.

I feel so lucky to have found a place to live that not only encourages kilts but pipers as well. Directly on the inner Harbour of Victoria, right across the street from the Parliament Buildings, The Royal BC Museum, and The Empress Hotel is "Pipers Corner". This corner is so named because it is reserved for pipers who wish to Busk. You know, grab your pipes, lay your Glengarry at your feet, and play away, hoping tourist will drop a few coins in appreciation.
Almost any sunny day (and a few rainy ones as well) the skirl of pipes can be heard over the traffic and roofs of my adopted city.

At first I thought you said you owned a Mall, then I cleaned my glasses.
It is great to see Kilts in the Mall, I do it all the time.
That is one great photo.

Nice to see the pipes being played somewhere other than the games. How was the sound playing in a large mall?

it's not that big a mall....this was in the courtyard area next to the escalators. Sounded pretty good acoustically but he was a very young piper and had a few bum notes. Lots of people loved him though.
There were a few shoppers up around the second level that had stopped to listen. Just a neat occurance I thought.
