dumb paypal question
uhm...ok, if a store credits your paypal account for a return.....then you go to make another purchase, will the credit get used up first, then your credit card just get charged the difference???
Or do you have to specify where the payment comes from?
or wait, the store will credit my paypal.....then I apply the credit back to my credit card????
*so confused*

It's only happened to me once. I received the credit and on my next purchase the credit was used first and then my card was charged the balance. Good luck.

Cloves,
If you have a PayPal account and made a payment from your PayPal account, then any credit would go to your PayPal account.
You can do a number of things. You can leave the funds there, and use them towards the next purchase you make from your PayPal account. Or you can withdraw those funds from your PayPal account either by requesting a check from PayPal or having PayPal deposit the money direct into your bank account.
On the other hand, if you made the purchase to a vendor that uses PayPal to accept on-line credit card payments, but do not actually have a PayPal account or did not use your PayPal account to make payment, but rather used your credit card directly, my understanding is that any refund would be applied back onto whatever credit card you used.
Aye,
Matt

I've only ever had my PayPal account credited - it's never gone back to my funding source automatically... and the balance is always reduced before any other funding source is used.

Cloves, this has happened to me. I got a refund, and the Paypal account was credited. Then later I bought something that cost more than my Paypal credit amount. The Paypal credit gets used up first, then you put the difference on your credit card or whatever account you choose, just like a regular purchase.

You can specify during checkout how you want the money pulled. Look for the "Source of Funds" dropdown menu. You can have it pulled from your PayPal balance, your linked bank account or your linked credit card.
