It is that time of the year again.

SUMMER!

It is hitting around 90 here lately.

I have noticed that we have a lot of new members over the winter months, and since these questions always come up, I did a pre-emptive strike and made a post where all of us long time kilt wearers can pass on pearls of wisdom to the new folks.

How do you deal with summer? How does one keep cool? How do you deal with chaffing and heat rash? How do you survive blistering heat. You know, all those questions.

I'll start this off with: Know the location to every air conditioning vent around you. Especially the ones on the floor. (But beware of the strong ones!) A little loitering over a vent is not only refreshing and cool, but dries everything off down there, dries your kilt, keeps it from sticking to your legs, and makes the fabric of your kilt feel cool for a short while as you walk. (Hopefully to the next vent)

And in the event that somebody ask The Question while you are over the vent, just reply, "A cool breeze." If looks of jealousy could kill, I'd be dead now.

A cool breeze... nice. I can't believe it's already getting to the 90's over there, we've yet to break the mid 80's in my neck of the woods. I feel for ya man, I used to live in Savanah where it's stifling hot from April to September in most cases.

Plenty of water down the throat also helps keep me cool.

as for staying cool? In Oklahoma, here is the entire summer

1. wake up in air conditioning
2. get ready for the day in air conditioning
3. Run to car and turn on air conditioning
4. drive wherever you are going
5. run from car to house/store/building with air conditioning
6. repeat steps 4 and 5 until the day is over
7. drive home in air conditioned car
8. run from car to house with air conditioning
9. go to sleep in air conditioning
10. go to #1 when you wake up.

* if you have a choice to go to either hell or a destination in Oklahoma without air conditioning, choose hell. It will be cooler there.

I woke up this morning, got ready for work, went outside at about 7:45am and had to scrape the ICE off my car. Nice chilly morning in Portland\Hillsboro Oregon. I guess it's a good day to wear a tank.

Spray your anti-skeeter spray liberally under your kilt. There are many delicate places under your kilt, none of which is a good place for a skeeter bite.

do not use the old military skeeter juice under the kilt. There are more dangerous things in that stuff than in the vaults of the CDC.
