I'm utterly fascinated with facial tattoos. I will never tattoo my own face, I have tattooed others' faces, and would consider tattooing my noggin. It looks somewhat Maori (I'm certainly no expert on the tribal patterns.)

Honors to the deceased. The pix, all show nicely. Handsome fellas, those kilters!
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

The face is certainly a long way from Maori, although I get that a lot. In fact, one would think that the Maori had a monopoly on facial tattooing! (although I can understand the attitude, especially here in Aus.) My face is pure Pict, mostly Caledonii tribe, centered in Aberdeen & Inverness (My family are from Aberdeen). The stag's head symbolises the highlands, & as the Picts never marked their rulers with a crown, the torc combined with the stag is for the Gordon crest. The 4 horizontal slashes are for the family deceased, while various other parts denote my status as head of the family, & battles fought in (I'm ex-military). I went with the Pictish style as one branch of the family is Clan Skene, an old clan that can trace ancestry back to the Picts. I never considered tattooing my face either, until my mother died & I decided our heritage would not die out with her. However I did draw the line at cutting it in with a sgian-dubh!
