Lewis Kilt Hose Decision
About five months ago the Scottish Tartans Museum announced that Matt had found this cool line of kilt hose made by a small, or at least low key, mill in Scotland. Sadly, they were about twice as much as the regular kilt hose from a variety of makers.
But I gave them a try. Ordered up two pair of a shade of blue I don't recall the fancy name for to go with my new RAF tartan kilt.
I prefer to buy kilt hose two pair at a time since I work long hours and its a small pleasure for me to change to fresh hose at lunchtime.
Anyhow, then at Christmas my daughter - who knows nil about kilt hose - somehow found the museum on the web and sent me a pair of navy Lewis hose for a Christmas gift. So, of course I had to order a second pair of navy.
I got to liking the feel of the hose...no clue why, just do. I also liked the heavier looking top a lot and I don't have to fiddle with it, folding it and refolding it trying to get it right. And, I liked the shaped foot...the heel is built in, not created when I pull the hose around my heel like with the less expensive ones.
So, what the heck, the wide color range offered matches for my Isle of Skye and Warrior tartan kilts purple, and I certainly needed the tartan red for a variety of kilts and the brown for my brown kilts.
Now after wearing nothing but Lewis hose for a week to try out these new colors I'm even more sold on the comfort and convenience...read VALUE...
So, placing an order with Matt today for eight more pair of Lewis hose in four colors - bottle green, loden green (Army kilt of course), Bison (which he says is a tan-like color), and basic black.
The decision I made in the title is that I will be wearing Lewis hose to work - for the sharp look of the hose top, and for comfort. Gonna save all the various pairs of the less expensive kilt hose to wear for hiking and knocking around.
An expensive decision for sure. But I can afford it and the the comfort and VALUE are there for me.
If you can't afford to try a pair of these beauties make them number one on your gift suggestion list for your birthday, or father's day, or Christmas, or whatever else you can think up.
Be fair warned though...If you try them you're gonna want more.
