Finals Week at NAU

Finals week starts tomorrow here at what we affectionately refer to as Not A University. I'm seriously stressed out about it, so I appologize if, over the last few days, I've been short or snarky at anyone over anything.

First time I visited NAU was about 1973. I was representing E.R. Moore who supplied the caps and gowns for graduation. Took my then wife and young daughter along to see Flagstaff. When we pulled up in front of the Student Union the Lumberjack statue was sporting a very large most masculine appendege aimed at a high angle. It looked as if it were cast with the statue.

The then Student Bookstore manager, who I was working with, was very straight arrow...but after we concluded business I had to ask...told him my wife was waiting in the car and she was for sure going to ask me what the deal was.

He told me some art students had made the device to celebrate the end of finals week and the university administration let them attach it for a few days at the end of Spring semester.

No one in current years has any memory of this tradition. Sad, the most manly lumberjack did NAU proud.

A couple of years ago, <s>we</s> somebody in one of the dorms made a ten-foot snow phallus after a blizard. It may not have been the Lumberjack tradition, but it did relieve stress.

Yeah, I've got finals this week too. And another bout of insomnia. I'm hoping for a lottery win so I can move into the hills and never come within 500 yards of a college campus again!

Thanks. I'm now done with the big, hairy, nasty final I've been dreading, and alas, I don't feel that I did very well. I'll find out in a few hours, but at the moment, I'm dreading the possible consequences of bombing it.

I just came back from dinner with my wife. Celebrating the end of my finals with Fajitas & a Margarita. Had 2 Finals today and I'm done. Brain is a little fried but that's okay. The Margarita made it all better.

If I can make through Physics II for Engineering & Architecture Majors then I can do the rest.
