Protect your knees
This may be obvious to many, but kneepads are something I use often working kilted.

Do you color coordinate your knee pads with all your kilts? Knees pads are good even when wearing pants but very important with a kilt. Thanks for the insight.

Too right I would, Gray!
I also wear knee pads, especially when gardening. If I didn't, my knees would carry the impression of whatever I was kneeling on for at least 24 hours - even grass - and I would probably be semi-crippled for the same period of time!! Kneeling is not actually very good for the over 70s, but it is the only way I can get down to work at ground level.

Knee pads are an important consideration, even in pants.
Last weekend I went paintballing in my kilt, and of course I wore kneepads. I also had tall wool socks pulled up, so naturally one time while sliding behind cover I scratched the heck out my leg right between the two.
I now have a huge scabbed over brush-burn about 4x4 on my that I am hoping goes away before the wedding next week.

Do you think Ham could get her to do his gardening? I'd let her work on my garden any time.
