I made it out to the warmer valley area known as Pomona for the Highland games/faire. Many kilts as expected and some newbies purchased their first kilts too. One merchant was hawking some Pride of Scotland kilts for a pretty low price but upon inspection the pleats follow no pattern at all (neither sett not stripe) and much as I like that tartan, I just couldn't. I also didn't mention it to one of the guys in the band next to Stuart Martz's table wearing it.
My acid-wash denim has been dubbed the "sky" kilt because the white patches resembles clouds (think Kodachrome skies) and generally got favorable reviews .. and a few doulble takes from passing pipe bands.
Attendance was average and the musical selections were decent but found wanting. No Celtic Spring or Wicked Tinkers.
Hoping Ventura is up to snuff, maybe hitting San Diego later.
