    Springfield MA Highland Games

Well, this will be my first foray to the games, in a LONG (20+ years) time, and, I am going with my new kilt (hopefully, it'll make it in time). I think I am going with a friend, who plays the pipes (his father is my instructor). Anyone else from the area going? Its June 23rd. Here it the link:

Hmmmmm... only 2 hours away... I just might have to do some creative rearranging of my calendar but I believe I will be attending. It's been 20+ years since I've been also.

I'm in Albany, NY and will definitely be going. Just an ammendment to your post: the games will actually be held in Greenfield, MA. That's about 35 minutes north of Springfield off I-91. It's going to be at the Franklin County fair grounds (unless things have changed). Incidentally, for anyone planning to go that likes good beer, there is a fantastic brew pub in town called The Peoples Pint http://www.thepeoplespint.com/ The beer is absolutely sublime, the food is fantastic and every Sunday they have a celtic jam session that lasts for hours. I used to live in Greenfield and that pub is the thing I miss the most.

Hey, I will be down with it. As long as can convince my buddy to come with us. Which, shouldnt be a problem. He is planning to compete in solo pipes...so, we'll see after that.
I'm not familiar with the area at all, but, I have a map

The People's Pint would be a great place for a kilted gathering. They tend to get really crowded after 6pm but if you get there earlier there are usually plenty of tables/booths. Maybe calling ahead would help. I'd definitely be down for it. By the by, Greenfield is approx. 1 1/2 hours from Albany, NY and around 2 hours from Boston via route 2. It's roughly 20 miles south of Brattleboro, VT as well. Oh, and about monsters and savages...I can't really say whether or not you'll see any but I did have a nasty confrontation with a rabid raccoon outside of my apartment when I lived in Greenfield.

    Woo-Hoo

Was planning on attending the games (As a spectator) myself.

Looking forward to a chance to meet some other kilties!

The People's Pint sounds like a great place!

Wow! You're bringing your own personal clan! I should say that The Peoples' Pint is kid friendly. There's even a bookshelf with games to make waiting tolerable. I always see children there when I go. Still, I can understand managing five kids could be exhausting.

Kid- friendly eh? Well then I'll just have to play that by ear. If the kids are behaving and under control we may stop in.
