Most St. Andrew's Societies are fraternal in nature, but if you're expecting Animal House, I wouldn't get your hopes up.
At one time, many St. Andrew's Societies were similar to other fraternal organizations (Masons, Odd Fellows, etc.) with ritual, regalia, etc. Nowadays most are mostly social/informational in regards to meetings, although though you still find some more traditional ones, such as the St. Andrew's Society of Philadelphia, St. John New Brunswick, etc.
But, I'm sure you'll enjoy your membership -- the Milwaukee society has a good history and many notable members, including the grandfather of General Douglas MacArthur, Arthur MacArthur Sr.
Regards,
Todd

Yes, I know that. But at the same time, we know how to have fun while helping the community. We never foget that we are first a philanthropic organization and second a social organization.

You're preaching to the choir, as I am one of the charter members of the Scottish St. Andrew's Society of Springfield, Missouri, and a member of several other Scottish organizations that engage in charitable activities.

Arthur MacArthur Sr. (Scottish immigrant)
Arthur MacArthur Jr.
Douglas MacArthur
"Dug-out Doug's" Dad, Arthur MacArthur Jr., was awarded the Medal of Honor for actions at Missionary Ridge during the Civil War. Later he served a General in the regular army and saw service in the Philippines. Arthur Jr. died while giving a speech to a reunion of his old regiment, the 24th Wisconsin.
