Frugal Corners Kilt Material?
I need to get some clarification on exactly what type of material Frugal Corners kilts are made of.
We have a large influx of new members currently who are jumping right in and participating like crazy and this is great. I'm noticing though that there may be some mis-understanding and/or mis-use of some of the terms that describe the various materials that are used by some kilt makers.
The main confusion comes regarding PV (poly/viscos) vs. Acrylic. Some appear to be using these terms interchangeably and it is incorrect by my understanding. Also, to my knowledge, there is only one weaver exploring the production of 13 oz. PV and he has not sold any yet. Is this correct or has the 13 oz. PV truly gone on the market?
I know Stillwater uses Acrylic in their Thrifty, Economy and their standard lines and Wool in their Heavy weight line.
Rocky is doing his in PV as well as wool. The PV is a very tight weave and non-fuzzy material.
Steve works in many cotton blends as well as wool and is preparing to venture into 13 oz. PV. Please correct me if I'm wrong Steve.
My confusion is about what material Frugal Corners is using in their kilts. The web site is calling it a polyblend. I do not believe it is the same as PV but I am no expert. I've heard the term Acrylic thrown around, possibly under the assumption that since some of the kilts come from the same factory as Stillwater's kilts, they would be acrylic as well. This may be wrong.
I'd just like to know clearly what the cloth is in the kilt I buy. In my simple mind the most common materials are wool, PV, Acrylic and Cotton. If there are other materials similar I'd love to know about them. But I think most of all it will serve the new members to gain an understanding of the differences between the various materials and that they each are unique and not interchangeable. (*Not to overlook Hemp and Leather, there's just not any confusion on what they are )
I'm not poking anyone with a stick, just looking for clarity whether in my mind or in the information being shared on the forum.
Thanks.

PV is a blend of polyester and rayon. It would be interesting to know what the other threads in Frugal's polyester blend are.
It would also be interesting to see what the percentage is of polyester to other stuff in BOTH fabrics.
All of these kilts are probably mostly polyester.
From Wikipedia (I know, Wiki has its problems):
Polyester
Viscose (Rayon)
Acrylic fiber

Good thread. I'm curious to know as well...

Polyblend
My Sportkilt has 'Polyblend' on it's label. This is then listed as Polyester and Cotton.

Shameless bump.
Any word on what their material is actually composed of?

I'm really interested in knowing as well. They have a 16oz line as well as a 13oz. That's if I'm reading it right? I wonder who the supplier is. They have some nice tartans available and seem to be adding more... The posted pictures of their work seems to look pretty good.

I noticed that from reading other posts in other threads that the guys at Frugal Corner are a bit busy right now, so it may just be taking some time to sort through all of the new posts to find this one. Lord knows this bunch talks a lot!

Ummm...you mean....they don't say what it is on their website? I'm sure its mentioned there......?
Okay, just back from the website from the link on X Marks here...just got a thing that says how cool they are and where they'll be but the links to the products won't open. So, there's no way to see their products, let alone what they're made of. Just can't imagine a garment manufacturer not clearly specifying the garment material. Its gotta be there if the website will open. Maybe they're busy working on the computer stuff...whatever is keeping their goods hidden from their prospective customers.
