    Has Anyone ever heard of...

    Mercy Kilts?

I was in the BW und US Shop, the local Weiden, Germany equivalent to the Army-Navy Store in the States, and found, to my amazement, a kilt, with the label MERCY in it.

Judging from the size and length, I suspect it is actually more of a kilted miniskirt. Two buckle/straps on the right and one on the left which opens to the rear. Almost fringed along the apron. Medium sized in 100% genuine polyester.

Priced at 45 Euro. Not for my XXL body but curious about it.

And, as Panache knows all to well, I failed my Tartan Exam, so all I can truthfully say is that it has a lot of red in it. Maybe a Stewart?

    Anyway, just thought I'd ask.....

I have heard of 'Mercy' clothing in recent years and understand them to cater to the Goth/Bondage fraternity (NOT my scene, I hasten to add!!). I believe they are a British company and, whilst I cannot find a website in their own name, I have found this retail stockist who lists several of their garments - this being the link to a plain black kilt:

What one might expect for £25.00 I shudder to think, but it might be fine for washing the car in (or with!!)

Thank you, Hamish, I think you are "spot on" with the link and the information.
The label in the gilt emitted a Goth/Punk Aura, I felt it immediately.
Seriously. I am not pulling your leg here.
Not my type, either, but I appreciate you confirming my feeling.

I do seem to remember that one of the forum members did buy a basic black contemporary kilt from them and gave it a review on the board...maybe a year ago?

    Hey guys

My kilt is one of those "Mercy" kilts. I'm not into bondage though

I got it from an ebay store (freddyonline or something like that) paid about $45 with the shipping over from England. It's not that awful of a kilt for the price. Has the 3 leather straps. I have used it most of this year and can't complain too much. I use it for highland games and beat the hell out of it. Washed it many times and it's still holding up ok. I know it's not that nice but for the price I paid it was worth it. I had no idea what it was until I saw the label that said "Mercy" when I searched on google for it I saw a lot of wierd gothic clothing stuff with that name, then I was feeling a little embarassed.

I cannot find this particular one for sale anywhere though so it must've been a short run or not in existance anymore. The pattern is fashion pattern, but looks almost like the Irish revenge kilt on Sportkilt.

    here's a picture.
