Chainmaille sporran chain

Well I've been playing with making various chainmaille thingies lately and when I learned a new weave this evening I thought it might make a nice sporran chain. So I replaced my chain, in just under an hour, with a shiny new one.

I took a pic comparing the old chain and the new. (it is a cheap sporran so now I need to get a good sporran for my chain )

Many of us have abandoned using chains, because the cut ends of the link pull at the fabric of the kilt apron, which can cause wear. I'd imagine this would be an issue with mail as well, particularly if you've cut the links yourself, and not rounded off the cuts in some way.

Yes actually it is a half Persian 3 in 1. That means I must have done it right? (just learned it yesterday)

The links on the chain I made are about the same as the links on the chain that came with the sporran so I hope it is not a snagging problem. I closed them as best I could so we shall see. I can always use a leather backing on the chainmaille if it comes down to it. (that could look rather nice...)

HP 3-1 looks nice, maybe a bit loose. I prefer to use HP 6-1 for all my chains. what are the ring sizes?

snagging shouldn't occur unless it is very poorly closed OR the rings were saw cut. if the are clipped with a >< (pinch cut) is should be fine, if all else fails, try filing them a bit, or tumbling it with some rice.

I think I might do on in GSG. Rygar did one and I saw it in person at the Ohio Ren fest in his Chainmaille booth. it looked nice.
