love my sportkilt

last month i was at a SASS shoot, wore a SWK standard kilt. temps got upto 95+, this is about avg. new mexico summer weather. by the time the event was over, i thought i was gonna die from heat stroke.

enough was enough, came home and ordered a sportkilt, clan Lindsay, just got the sewed down pleats. i love this kilt, its light weight, and easy to put on. i even love the velcro and the elastic plus the little sportkilt patch. i'm planning on ordering the USMC next week, thats how much i like these kilts in hot weather.

I agree completely! I own four of them and for what they are they're great. They certainly don't take the place of a tank, and I wouldn't wear an SK where a tank would be called for. But for knocking about in the hot weather they can't be beat.

I've been wearing my USMC Sportkilt the last few days. The sewn down pleats do make a difference---you're gonna love it in the heat.

ya gotta have the pleats sewn down, makes all the difference. the wife who is anti kilt likes it, even said that it made me look slimmer and even suggested that i order another one. now thats marital progress.

and yes mr. k, there is a time and place for everything, and right now, its sports kilt time.

Hey have I ever mentioned how much I love USAK especially here in Houston, where it runs towards moderate-high temps (currently 86 degrees with 72 percent humidity)? I suppose any pv would do, but I know know know that USAK uses Marton Mills fine poly-viscose, tight weave, made to measure, you can rush order if you want to? Hand tailored (not hand sewn) rocks the house.

It's always nice to have options. I'll second Cossack's notion on the USAKs. I have three of there casuals and they are super here in Hobbs. Nice and cool, and quality made.

I have a USMC from sports kilt, it was my first kilt. I love it for the Parades here in Florida because it get real hot on the pavement.



I have my MacQueen Tank for Shriner functions.



And my new Frugal Corner Hunting Stewart for Socials.



I love them all.

Future kilts will be a Sport Kilt, They findly have a family tartan for me the new MacFarlane. Also something from Frugal Corner, maybe the Clergy.

actually i e-mailed usak with some questions, never heard back from them,so i went with sport kilt who answered my questions, besides USAK doesn't have a USMC tartan.

They only have US Army because a bunch of guys here went in on ordering it, if I remember the story correctly. Which leaves the rest of us out in the cold unless we get a big enough power block together.

SASS and Kilts!!?? Now that's pushing the envelope...who'd have thunk it? Good on you.

There was a shot at special ordering the Leatherneck tartan through USA Kilts that didn't make it. Was not long before the Army tartan did make.

I passed since I wanted only top of the line hand sewn for my Leatherneck. Just me.

I've seen the SportKilt leatherneck tartan and the colors seem brighter to me than my hand sewn. Guessing its the type of fabric.

And there are plenty of comparisons of SportKilt and USA Kilt - I think I even did one a while ago. Whatever had Rocky tied up or your email misrouted, do yourself a favor and take another look at what USA Kilt offers.

If nothing else. Take a look at the SportKilt flashes vs. the USA Kilt flashes. SportKilt seems to cut their flashes caddywhompus out of whatever scrap is lying around. USA Kilt flashes follow the direction of the tartan and look sharp.

Next time you're out and about with other rabble check out the USA Kilts so you can see for yourself.

Sorry if I'm drifting off topic here...I own SportKilts too. Just would hate to see you dump a valuable option over a lost email.
