Sad

Sarah died yesterday afternoon. The vet diagnosed her with lung cancer three weeks ago.
Friday morning she seemed to be doing very well - well enough that she brought me her hedgehog to toss down the hall for her to fetch.
I was supposed to be at a relative's funeral in Tucson last night, but just as I was walking out the door for the drive down, Sarah coughed up a huge clot of blood and started wheezing badly.
I drove her to the vet's office, where she walked in his front door, lay down on his doormat, and stopped breathing. They tried to intubate, but she had too much blood in her lungs to do anything.
The vet says she didn't feel much pain, if any. And she at least got a final car ride. She loved riding in the car.

I am so sorry to hear this. Dogs are such a blessing in our lives and the pain of their loss is just as great as losing your own child.
My heart goes out to you.

You have my very deepest sympathies.
She was obviously a very well loved pet, and she did get that one last car ride.

Losing a pet is a hard thing in life, my sincerest condolences.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Early this spring we had to put down our 18 year old cat. I know how you feel. We still have a picture of her on the fridg.
She did get to have one last ride also.

Sorry.
It's a terrible thing to lose a faithful pet.

My sympathy for your loss, In the last 2 years I lost two of my four footed children one 18 and one 16 years of age, good long runs for dogs. We just adopted a year old Lab 2 months ago, sometimes I wonder why I set myself up for heartbreak knowing I will outlive her too. All I can say is the loyalty and companionship outweigh the pain
