I was listening to last Saturday's Travel with Rick Steves via podcast this morning (Edinburgh was the featured city) and a caller to the show was asking how an american in Edinburgh wearing a kilt would be perceived. He was concerned about not offending while on vacation. He then goes on to say he's gotten into kilting and actually owns no pants.
Ok, fess up. Which one of you was it?
(The show itself was pretty good and the two travel guides from Edinburgh that were guests assured the caller that they would be honored that he's wearing the kilt. My own experience from two weeks ago is that no one thinks twice about seeing you in a tartan kilt (unless they work for Visit Scotland). My Utilikilt however ... I guess they don't see too many of them in Edinburgh. ) All three (the host and both guests) got in a few digs a Visit Scotland BTW.
