Kilted outing.
OK. Wore my SWK Irish National out yesterday to my parent's house.
My mom got a big kick out of it and took a picture of me in it.
My brother and his buddy were sitting out front when i got there. As i'm wakling up the front steps, his buddy says "dude, why are you wearing a kilt?" to which i reply "because i want to."
i stay for a while, and leave to go to the store. as i'm pulling up, a 40-ish African American lady is walking in. I walk in behind her and she does a double-take, glancing over her shoulder. i almost bust out laughing and have to fake getting a funny text message on my phone as i walk quickly down an aisle. we end up at the same place and she asks if i'm wearing a kilt. she asks if i'm Irish, i tell her i'm Irish and Scottish. She basiclly that it's cool to which i reply "so do I." she thinks it's great that i'm dressed like that, honoring my heritage.
only bad thing about yesterday: it was HOT and HUMID. not the best day to rock the kilt.

Sounds like a great outing! You will find that most responses to the kilt are positive. Most other responses are easily ignored unless you have the maturity of a four year old in need of ritalin, like ME!
Then you can have some fun with them on those occasions when your impulse control is lacking.
THankfully, most of us are more mature than me.
Even more thankfully, the kilt is a good looking masculine garment and most people will react positively to a man in a kilt.
I like my SWK kilts too. I think I am up to 7. Latest was the Black watch heavyweight.
My irish national goes to work at least once a week.
Kilt on,
Doug

Indeed. And I always reply with "shoes and socks" to the question of "what do you wear under your kilt?" ;)

The oddest thing: black women seem to comment more about my kilts than any other group. Comments are pretty much always positive, too, which doesn't hurt things a bit.
