Here's an idea, Let's invent a fest! We can call it "Kiltfest." We can celebrate it once a year, or anually, whatever works best. We can lead up to it for two or three days until the highlight day when everyone gets blotto or pissed and realizes that it's KILTDAY and it's time to celebrate!!!
Now if that doesn't work we can celebrate Kilt Day today! I planned on it anyway
pass the lime please?
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

Oktoberfest, despite the name, actually tends to happen in September.
Here's one in Pennsylvania... I don't know how close it is to you, though. I suspect if you google "Oktoberfest" and the name of a state, you'll find interesting listings.

Yep, MacDougall i right. September. We have a decent one, close to CT (relatively speaking), at Wachusett mountain-the local ski place. They put on a decent shindig...I think I may actually attend this year.

Well, I quoted Scotchtoberfest due to people creating a REAL holiday out of the fictional one that was aired on the Simpsons.... since then, people have turned it into another Scottish-themed holiday, usually involving imbibing in many a glass of Scotch.
Third Friday of October is the day.... in addition to Tartan Day, St. Andrew's Day, Robbie Burns Day, Orange Day if you're of Protestant descent....

Baltimore has an Oktoberfest every year. It is at the National Guard Armory in the city. Probably the largest in the area. When I get the date I will post it. I know its a drive from Connecticut. But, Its a lot of fun. I weant to another oktoberfest last year kilted. Almost got shot by the Governor's guards. Too many beers and kilted. Met the pres of the local St andrews socitey. Talk about cultural diversity.

Steuben Day Parade in NYC
Hey, Dutchman,
Saturday, Sept. 15th, will see the 50th annual Steuben Day Parade here in NYC. Those of us who share Germanic and Celtic heritage (in fact, ALL kilters ) could meet somewhere that day and have a joint celebration.
Does anybody have the new German-American tartan designed by USA Kilts? That would be the perfect day for it!!!
