Arizona in August
Just a few pics of our recent trip to Arizona. My poly/cotton digital camo X-kilt was just the ticket in the 100+ degree temperatures. Got lots of positive comments and free admission to one historic site from a young lady who thought the kilt was "wonderful...keep your money in your sporran."
Anyway, we saw lots of Native American sites (got struck by lightning at one, but that's another story), Meteor Crater, some neat old mining towns, lots of cactus, and picked up five new life birds, including California Condor. Thanks to our own Riverkilt Ron for great advice on what to see, where to eat, and how to stay hydrated.
Click the pic and it grows.
First, here I am in front of the ruin called "Montezuma's Castle" (despite the fact that Montezuma never came within several hundred miles of the place).
Next, the lovely Diana and I touring in the Red Rock country near Sedona.
Finally, MadBagpiper (sans kilt) pondering the Grand Canyon.

Very nice pics, thank you.
How do you go about sending clickable thumbnails instead of megabytic pics? Good idea.
Another off-topic question: what is "digital" camo?

Montezuma's Castle...many thanks for that picture! I used to spend a lot of time in the Verde Valley when I would stay with my grandparents for the Summer. It's a beautiful place. Did you make it Montezuma's Well and Tuzigoot? Tuzigoot is probably my favorite "ancient" site.
How about Fort Verde and Jerome?

I live about a forty-five minute drive from Montezuma's castle. Less if Red_Raven_Studio drives...

"Digital Camo" is camoflage , but instead of the usual rounded random 'shapes' printed on the fabric, they are more 'block' shaped - looks a bit like something you would do 'digitally' on a computer with rather loose Pixels. Check out the various sites with Camo kilts and you'll see the difference, some are 'regular' others are 'digital'. Digital actually looks quite interesting, kind of softens the military look of regular camo.

Great pictures, And a few beautiful spots.
I was only around there in winter, but I'm not sure I could handle it in summer.
You guys look great.

We were standing on the top of the Tuzigoot ruin when it was struck by lightning! It knocked a loaf-of-bread-sized rock off the wall and threw gravel all over us, but fortunately no one was hurt. Having a blue spark about 6" long shoot out of my nose is something I hope to never see again.
Missed the fort but spent a wonderful day in Jerome, and Montezuma's Well was really awesome.
And here's a close-up of my digital camo fabric. It's a knock-off of the USMC "MarPat" digital pattern that is in wide use today. It's medium weight poly/cotton and is great kilt cloth. Wrinkles are almost non-existent, even after sitting in the car and getting rolled up in a suitcase. I wish I had bought the whole bolt when I had the chance, because I haven't been able to find it since I bought this piece at my local Hancock Fabric store.
Photobucket gives you the option of a "clickable thumbnail" image. There was a thread on X-Marks some time ago with the instructions, but basically just store your image in Photobucket, put a tick mark in the wee box below the image, scroll to the bottom of the page and hit the "HTML Code" button, then hit "Clickable thumbnail" on the next page. That automatically copies the link...go back to your X-Marks screen and hit "paste" and there it is.

Nice pics, you and your lady are both looking good, though I was unable to view the pic of MadBagpiper.

I imagine the rangers had the same expression on their faces as well when you told them that story, eh?
Jerome is a wonderful little town; my grandmother remembers visiting there when she was 13 years old when the mines were still running. We used to eat at a nice little restaurant called The English Kitchen, which is reportedly AZ's oldest restaurant. Did you go to the Gold King Mine out west of town?

Todd
