I wanted another McKenzie kilt for colder weather wear, something a bit heavier than the lightweight polycotton one which I bought at Fort Augustus but I wasn't prepared to spend the money right now on another high quality kilt so I ordered this 5-yard 16 oz. polyviscose from The Scotland Kilt Company of South Bridge, Edinburgh.
The latest kilt arrived today while I was at court and I hurriedly tried it on as soon as I was home and had opened the parcel.
Now I need to buy another McKenzie clan crest kilt pin.
This kilt has a much heavier feel than the polycotton McKenzie, but it only has a single buckle on each side.
In honour of my great-great-great grandfather John McKenzie, who was a soldier in the Lanarkshire Militia two hundred years ago. He married Paisley born Jean Hamilton at the Glasgow New Gaelic Church in 1803 and later became a carter in Paisley. That the marriage took place in the Gaelic church suggests he may have been of Highland origin.
The obligatory pleats shot.
