August Belmont Kilt Night
We arrived early to this month's bee...um, I mean, kilt night at The Devil's Canyon Brewery. We wanted the opportunity to take some pictures of the Maroon Panache in natural light.
Sinbad is wearing his MacNichol tartan kilt (my first attempt at kilt making, still holding up pretty well). Brewer Dan had to be in the pictures too...

Everyone else (and all their uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, acquaintances and enemies) decided to come early as well (maybe it was the heat-we've been suffering a bit here). Except, of course, the NorCal Rabble. They all took their time arriving.
Therefore, it was starting to get dark by the time I was able to get this shot of walkerk and Panache-I used the flash, but it's still pretty apparent that the kilt is maroon

The girls were ALL OVER my man that night. He swears they weren't flirting with him, but then again, he thought I wasn't flirting with him when we first met either! By the way, I cannot seem to get this photo to rotate, no matter what I do. Apologies.

We converted her, with the help of the Mactowel!

And this one tried to sneak a peak as Panache was posing with the soon-to-be lining of his X-Marks tartan kilt (way2fractious is holding Xena here while Panache poses with the liner, which helps to demonstrate the differences between pink and maroon)

I know there are several other good (but still decent) pictures of this young woman's attempts to get to know Panache better. I look forward to the posts that will surely follow this one with those amusing shots!
Be well,

I'm detecting a vague tone of threat towards that particular young lady. I hope you were gentle with her or, at least, quick.

OK - now I agree that the color truly is maroon. Perhaps if it had been better described in the title of the DIY section we would have better understood the shade. This is definitely a 'manly' shade, nearer the shade of the British Paratroop Regiment's headgear. My apologies for casting any aspersions on Panache or the F-HCAG in the other thread.

I gotta STOP looking at California women...my aging heart struggles with the testosterone surge...!
Looks like a box pleat maroon kilt? You make that?
Got me one of Steve's dress model maroon Freedom Kilts so I know the maroon is a sharp look for a solid color kilt.
And I learned in an undergraduate clothing selection class for my old textiles minor that maroon and black is the color combination for executives and leaders.

Ron there's a whole LONG thread about the "Pink Panache" in case you've missed it. I think that in this natural lighting, it's obviously maroon---or at least maroon-ish. Well done, all around.

It was a great evening as usual for the Nor Cal Rabble. Whatever Dan "The Man" Curran is doing to spread the word about the Devil's Canyon Brewery, it certainly seems to be working! It was very, very busy this last Friday. Now knock it off Dan! Walkerk was there showing off his recently completed Johnston tartan kilt by the very skilled way2fractious. We all thought of Tim and his lovely bride off in Scotland (hope you are having a great time Tim and Damaris!). In addition to the Amazing Madalyn we were graced by w2f's lovely friend Maurie and Alan H's own Luminous Joan!
Little Sinbad and Xena found friends to play with and ran around wearing themselves out.
As for the young cute Québécoise who found me so interesting, all I can say is that I'm happy we kept her away from Alan!
Cheers
