Review: Oconee Sporran Hangers
I've never liked sporran belts. It seemed to me that I was constantly fiddling with them, trying to get them to hang in the right place. Often, they got trapped under my stomach, making me look even fatter than I actually am. So when I found Cragie's sporran sling, I bought one, and liked it, and wore it. But it was only one, and hey, a guy likes to have options.
So when my financial aid came in this semester, I contacted CavScout about a pair of sporran hangers, and a D-ring adaptor. He estimated it would be about a month before he got a chance to make them, and a week later, emailed to let me know that he was sending them out in the post the following day. While I'm sure he can't provide this for every order, it was a nice surprise in my case.
And this seems like a good time to mention that I received a great deal of communication from him, in very professional style. He responded quickly to my initial inquiry, confirmed when he'd received my money, told me how long he anticipated the order taking, and told me when it was ready to ship. Top-notch communication and customer service.
When I received the straps, I unpackaged them right in the dorm office. In part, because I was eager to see them; in part, because the recycling bin for the shipping materials is right there. I was quite pleased. They're simple, but well made -- the leather is thick, the dye permiates well, both the front and back of the straps are dyed, and sealed, and there's nice attention to detail -- the snap on the straps matches the color of the dye, and the loop which holds the snap-hook is thinned down, so you don't have a great deal of bulk under the snap. The snap-hooks themselves are rugged, and high-quality.
The hangers make the sporran cant outwards from the body a little bit, but not enough that it's really noticable to anyone. (Assertained by asking my nursing school classmates if they noticed anything different about my outfit this morning). They keep the sporran in the right place, and they're comfortable.
So, grades:
Customer Service: A
Quality of Construction: A
Value for the Dollar: A
Overall: A
And I'll definately be doing more business with Cavscout in the future!
