Non-Tartan Fabrics
Where can I find 65/35 poly cotton blend fabric that is 8-12 oz? I have been wanting to make a fashion kilt for a while made from this fabric but have not been able to find any website that sells it by the yard or meter. Anybody know of any website that sells this stuff?

I don't know where you're from, but I just picked up some 70/30 poly/cotton from my local Fabricland. http://www.fabricland.ca/
I asked every sales lady in the place any they were unable to tell me the weight, but its between 8 and 12 for sure.

There's a store on ebay I have had good luck working with. Twillfabric I believe it is called. Search their store for poly cotton and you'll see a good selection of colors. Beware the "come-on" precut lengths of twil they sell at a low price, it is inferior to their regular product, which is available through "buy it now." The regular stuff runs about $6-7 a yard and is consistently good quality. I wash it twice before sewing. It sews nicely and is easy to care for. First yard shipping is high but if you buy a few yards it gets reasonable.
BTW they also sell some neat all-cotton stuff--not as practical from a wrinklie standpoint but their brushed canvas, for instance, is quite luxurious. Hard to run through a regular sewing machine, though. I think they also just introduced organic cotton twill to their lineup. They will also usually send samples if asked.

Sure thing. let me know how it works out! What color?
Their poly-cotton twill is great. Over the last couple of years I have also I have also used from them: the canvas duck (10-ounce, I think?) the brushed canvas, the brushed twill, and the 9-ounce brushed bull denim.
They have been good to work with--occasionally they will run out of something they still have listed, that is my only gripe about their service. Other than that the quality of both fabric and service has been high. I think they also have a return policy (in original condition,) somewhat unusual for cut goods.

I went with the tan/khaki color. Im trying to make something that is work friendly and would be a good alternative to Khaki pants. When using the bull denim, did you have any problems with shrinkage after the first wash?
