Buying a sporran, not cheap, what do you guys think?
Hello all, i was talking with the guys that sells kilt here in mexico and asked him about a sporran, and he's selling the same sporran that sport kilt sells, its this one http://www.sportkilt.com/departments....cfm?afid=1003
but he wants about 60 us dollars for it, i think its to much, since it costs about 30 dollars on sport kilt, what do you guys think, for the kind of money he wants i could make easily 3 or 4 sporrans my self.

I think $60.00 US is way to much, have you thought about looking at Stillwater kilts they have one for $16.50 that look very similar to what Sport Kilt is offering.

I believe that I have the same sporran and I paid close to $25-35 for it. What I do not like about it is that the material is very stiff. I do not want a sporran that will keep its shape, but not be hard.

Yes, for $50-60 US you could a sporran that is a big jump up in quality, like a Buzz Kidder. Softer, more useful, and I think, better-looking.
For an inexpensive one the SWK one mentioned here can't be beat for price. But as ncof300d pointed out they are stiff and don't hold much. Since you already have made one that is probably more useful than this, why not either save up for a BK or make a couple more on your own?

Buzz Kidder Sporrans are a great value for the money, I highly recommend them. They are nice and supple and hold a reasonable amount of stuff. They have several very nice sporrans in the $50 to $60 range.

I second Jim's recommendation. X Marks the Scot Sponsors The Scottish Tartans Museum, USA Kilts, and Stillwater Kilts sell Buzz Kidder Sporrans

Did you ask him to justify the price, given what is available on the market? Maybe his is a better version that what we've shown you (even if doubtful). He would need to show it, though. Have you seen his sporran, hombre?
