A Dog to match your kilt! 1 1/2 yr old airedale Free TO A GOOD HOME!
If there is anyone with an interest in one of the finest of dog breeds, the AIREDALE, I have a female that is in good health, about 1 1/2 year old, 100% purebred. I have papers for registering her, but have not bothered as it really wasn't important to me. She has not been neutered, because I had thought that some day she might be bred. Trouble is, now I don't have the land that she really needs. I hate seeing her cooped up and, if anything, we will probably move to something smaller and with less yardwork. She is housebroken, but should not have to live indoors. The Airedale needs space. She is just about a laid back and mild mannered, but SMART..like most Airedales and very discerning. A bit timid, but incredibly loving and devoted. I paid over 300.00 for her as a puppy, but it just isn't fair for her to not be in a place where she has space and someone who can give her the time and attention she deserves. Looks PERFECT next to a kilt! We live near Atlanta.

As a former breeder of Welsh Terriers, I'd really like to encourage you to consider contacting the Airedale rescue arm of the national breed club. These organizations work tirelessly to ensure dogs in need of new homes go to people who love the breed and desire an older pet. They do this without judgment and have only the dog's best interest at heart. Of course if you have a contract with your breeder, you should check it to be sure there is a not a condition that you return your dog to him or her, first.
Meanwhile, I'm seriously imagining my house with another black-and-tan K9 once again...
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Rex,
I ALWAYS respect fellow dog lovers. Truth is, at 57, I am preparing to leave this area of Georgia to return to the Blue Ridge Mountains around Asheville. We also have a Cairn Terrier and a Miniature Schnauzer. If we temporarily go to an apartment, the far smaller ones would adapt well, but the Airedale has already been cramped in a suburban lot...she needs room to BE an Airedale. My hope was that here, at least I might find her a new home that will take care of her responsibly and that I would know where she is going. I wouldn't even consider an ad in the paper or the net. The Airedale is one of the finest breeds ever, both for loving and devoted companionship as well as for incredible discernment and intelligence for taking care of a family. This one is young and still at that age where she would be able to adjust to a new home. My great hope would be for some land in the country!

Oh wow, I would love to adopt her. I grew up with Airedales and Old English Sheepdogs and love them both, but like you I don't have the yard space for her to run in! My minischnauzer has filled up all of our space!

If I didn't live on the other side of the country, and if I didn't already have four dogs, I'd take her. I have seven acres which is mostly undeveloped... plenty of room to roam and rabbits to chase.

It looks like I'm in the same boat as several other folks here. I would love to adopt her. Unfortunately, I am an apartment dweller for the time being. I'm currently looking to buy a house but I seriously doubt I'd find one and move in before next spring. Not only is the terrier the best group of dog, IMO, but an airedale is also hypo-allergenic.

Even if it wasn't too soon yet for me to be thinking about another dog, I'm a renter as well. In time I may have an Airedale, but I can't help you now.
JRB's comment reminded me of something, though. There's a member of the SOKS who would love to get his son a hypoallergenic dog ... I don't know if he's seen this thread ...

Yes he has, i I hope that this little tyke will find a good home real soon. As for my son he'll be getting a Havanese this Christmas. Yes it's a Cuban dog so you'll have a problem dognapping it and getting it across the border . It's a shame that you're not ready to adopt this dog, it'd be nice to keep him in the X Marks family.

I know this is an old thread, but I never saw it and just wanted to find out if the pooch found a good home.
I rescued an Airedale who had been living in the local cemetary for years. He gave me wonderful companionship for six years, and I still love the breed. I had only an apartment to share with him, but even after he had over one hundred acres to roam free (at night, of course!), he was very happy to be with me in it. The saving grace was that I live on a decent sized park.
So I'm hoping that the lack of a large yard didn't prevent someone from giving this one a good home.
