Probably the GODWIN strain of Saxon blood among the many Celtic lines in my makeup, but when I saw the contemporary Scramasaxe here I thought it a work of real beauty http://www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?p=112082 Note the one by Peter Johnsson!

Peter is one of the greatest living authorities on medieval Scandinavian (all right, I'll say it, Viking) blades. He's done some work with Albion to put realistic and well designed swords of this era into the hands of the average enthusiast, which is sweet.

The Saxon knife led me to check my history. Apparently there were many occasions when the Saxons and Scots either fought with one another or between themselves such as this brief quote referencing the Romans and others seeking assistance "The Saxons are appealed to for help, but unite with the Picts to attack the Britons"

Peter Johnsson's expertise goes well beyond viking blades. He has measured and weighed swords of many types, in many of Europe's finest museums. His first sword was a replica of the Svante Nilsson Sture sword which was exactingly accurate in every detail. I am glad to count him a friend, and his work is outstanding, no matter what it is that he makes. Seax are very interesting blades to make and to play with.
