X-Skirt, instructions for download
Long ago I wrote up instructions for how to make a simple, mini-to-knee-length pleated skirt. there was a bit of a furor over that, and so what I did was tell everyone that if they wanted the instructions, PM me and I'd give them the URL. I did that in response to some of the Moderators who were concerned that my skirt instructions would impact sales of some X-Marks vendors.
Well, much time has passed and not very many people have asked for the instructions. I'm not impacting any sales, here! . I recently sent a message to one of the moderators about it and haven't heard back with a "no", so I'm going ahead and making the URL generally available. This is an MSword document, and Geocities will revolt if too many people download it at once. So if you try downloading and it doesn't work for you, wait for 4-5 hours or overnight and try again. If the response is big, I'll turn it into a pdf. I wrote it before I had a digital camera, so it's a bit skimpy on illustrations.
Here are instructions to make a quick and easy, tartan, knife-pleated, above-the-knee skirt. Please read the caveats at the beginning so that you understand what this skirt is NOT intended to be....that is, a really traditional, knee-length or longer, substantial kilt skirt. This is a quick and easy, lightweight, minimally constructed skirt. It should do well for women who are medium-build to trim-build, who want a two-season, above-the-knee skirt for casual wear.
Cheers, and let us know how it goes if you (or your lady) makes one!

A few notes if you plan on PDFing this one.
A. Pictures, Some of use are very visual learners when we remember to read the directions on sewing patterns.
B. I would NOT advise the use of woolite on your woolens, it is a carpet cleaner and is no longer formulated for wool carpets, and even when it was there is a huge difference between a carpet wool and a cloth wool, trust me. I would advise the use of euclean, or Soak woolwash, and in a pinch shampoo works too. Wool is hair, the proteins are very similar.
C. most importantly, the very polite American word you use for bum, is a VERY impolite word for something else in Australia and the UK. very very rude word. PM me if you wanna know and can't figure it out. Congratulations you have hit the language barrier between English and American. BTW if you have a mind like me and read it with the English meaning of the word, that particular section is extremely funny.
Other than that, thank you. I am gonna have to find a reason to go fabric shopping now. I really appreciate the inclusion of belt loops, and I now need to figure out how to hide pockets in it, since I cannot function without them.
Excellent Pattern Overall

Alan, I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. Murphy and his infamous Law have done an admirable job of keeping me busy with other tasks.
Go ahead and pull the skirt instructions into a thread here, so people can access them right here.

BTW, I've started two mini's (finished one) as of late that are hybrids of the X-Kilt and this X-Skirt. I'm sorry that I didn't post detailed pics, but life has been out of control lately and that just adds one more step to the construction. I will post final pics when both are done and worn. One is a Christmas gift to my sister in law (who has a 15-19 inch taper, depending on where she wears it!), the other is for me (whose taper is less impressive).
Be well,

Indeed - some of the images it conjours up in the mind are quite disconcerting...
best regards

If I'm ever unemployed again with oodles of time on my hands, I'll document with more photos. As it is, I'm leaving that to the F-H.C.A.G.

PLease, oh please, (trying to sound like Oliver in the orphanage) May I have some more?
No, wait..that's not right. Miz String, where might I purchase euclean or Soak Woolwash? there's a knitting store in my town, might they have it?

Thanks for the heads up and the specifics in PM's. I will find a few minutes to change that, this weekend!
