travels with kilts
You folks travel with kilts, I know. Well besides using a hanger, what is your preferred method of carrying kilts in luggage?

Check the tutorials section of this forum. There is a good explanation how to make a "Kilt Roll for Travel".

I usually wear one and take another that is appropriate for the weather. I usually just roll it up and stuff it in my luggage. Of course I'm usually packing ten minutes before heading to the airport.

Any comments by anyone on those special travel undershirts and briefs made of polypropelene as quick wash and dry materials and to cut down luggage items.

Just in case you need it, here's the link:

I found it simple, easy and quite useful to use when I'm travelling with the kilt packed up.

Actually, polypropelene tends to harbor body odors, most quality quick-dry stuff is polyester or other synthetic, or or has been treated with silver for its antimicrobial properties.
Synthetics are fantastic for drying quickly, which for hand-washing is a boon. Whether it is the right choice depends on: what you like to wear, whether you intend to wash your stuff, and how long your trip will be.

I roll mine; it's much better at keeping the pleats.

If the kilts must be placed in luggage - roll 'em! If you can carry them, or put in the back seat, leave them on the hangers that you use at home.

Rolling really is best for packing, but I have folded my kilts in thirds with the aprons on the inside like folding a shirt almost, then folded that in half from top to botum again with the aprons on the inside. This makes the whole thing shorter and kind of does what rolling does. You have to be very careful about folding it long ways to make sure all the pleats on the sides don't get out of place at the fold. Also, you will need to hang it up as soon as posible to let the place where you folded it relax back into place.
