    Santa Kilted..backwards:(

Went to Pensacola's newest Irish Pub Finnegan's Wake tonight they had a a 6ft Santa manakin in the front area and he had a Kilt on so we went to check him out, and lo and behold his kilt was on backwards..... I told the hostess but she didn't care she just said o okay. I tried to set them straight but to no avail.

As far as the food goes wifes steak was great! shepard's pie was below average and service could not have been much worse so we will give them one more chance if they don't get better then we'll have to give up on them.

An Irish pub that can't do a Shepherd's Pie doesn't deserve a second chance. There's a restaurant in TO that has become a permanent destination on our trips simply for their Guinness Shepherd's pie.

The kilt just adds to their lack of detail. They obviously did not remove the brown M&Ms so you know there will be other problems.

I LOVE places that try to pass as "authentic" but are anything but. My favorite example is when we travel across the country and order a "Philly Cheesesteak". What you get is rarely anything even RESEMBLING a Philly Cheesesteak.

Same goes for most "Irish Bars" I've been in. They're really "college bars with Irish decorations".

Don't I know it Rocky, the first time I tried a Philly Cheesesteak was at Gino's, ever since I can not bring myself to try one anywhere else cause I know it won't be the same. As for pubs and pub food unfortunately most "Pubs" have absolutely no idea how to conduct themselves as such.

"Authentic" seems to be a highly subjective term for many of these themed watering holes. I've been to "Irish" pubs and been unable to recognise any Irish food on the so-called "Irish" menu!

And NOISE! Once upon a time restaurants often prided themselves on providing a quiet atmosphere; now many seem to believe they should sound like boiler factories.

I use to manage Park City Pizza & Pub and to say it was noisy.... The pub was quieter Except on football nights.
