Everything old is new again!
My mother is a McNab (well, MacNab, back before the English supposedly booted us out for being Catholic), and years ago, she made us hostess skirts to wear to a party that she and my dad were hosting. I was about 7 when I wore mine. It's not technically a kilt, but hey, us girls gotta represent too, eh?
I've been dating a great guy (who's also on XMTS), and his interest in tartans and kilts has renewed my Scottish pride, so I asked Mom to dig out the old hostess skirts, just so we could have a look at them. Turns out the elastic in my old skirt has dried out to the point where I can actually get the skirt over my hips (that's either really impressive, or really depressing because it means I was a bigger kid than I thought!). Now it's more of a pencil skirt than a hostess skirt, of course. I wore it tonight to my firm Christmas party. It's a lovely red and green combo, which makes for a great Christmastime look. Here's a shot that I took after I got home:
Just wanted to share some MacNab pride with y'all!

It is wonderful that you can wear it again, I really love when a tartan has a real family connection, my first kilt was my Dad's kilt from when he was a boy scout in Scotland. It looks great wear it well.

That's great, and a little spooky too - You must have been really big as a 7 year-old.

Well, like I said, the elastic has dried out, and I do have a sash which was used to cinch the skirt when I was younger.
P.S. Not a good idea to use the word "big" in reference to a woman, no matter what age, but I guess I set myself up for that one.

Looks good! Women in tartan always look better to me. A nice bonus that the MacNab has the red and green in time for the holiday party.

I think it looks great! I want to get my wife one in the Irish National to honor her McDevitt ancestry.
