Strange Christmas presents...
As some of you know, I have had a cataract in my right eye for some time now. It finally 'went' a few years ago, making me essentially blind in that eye.
I've had to postpone the surgery twice, the latest because of a scare over my heart which proved to be nothing.
So I had surgery yesterday, the 26th. A late Xmas present. This morning brought the removal of the eye patch and the fun of having to get used to a new outlook on things. It's not in focus real well and I am still seeing the reflection from the implant which is weird to say the least.
All of this comes at a time that I am under a tight deadline to edit a 112,000 word novel. Oops. My bad.
So, here I am, resting my eyes the hard way sharing this with all of you.
BTW, the 12th of January we move to new digs across town. Wee!
So as you see, I received some strange presents this year!
Happy Holidays!

Hope your eye gets better soon, and good luck with your novel.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Congrats on the new transplant. Take care of it.
You know, you'll never get the kind of eye Mad Eye Moody had, but the ones we do get are kinda magical, too.

There is a story that people who have had cateracts removed can sometimes see into the infra-red spectrum.... if you ever get a chance, let me know if that is true with you.
Supposedly, old people were used during WW II on subs and ashore to read code from subs....?

Cataracts? Ouch.
Every time I hear the word "cataract" I think of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell Tale Heart....

Hi,
had both eyes done about two years apart-- and yes, under certain light conditions you may get a corona effect caused by the edge of the implant. It doesn't seem to go away, but you do get used to it after a few weeks/months and it will cease to be much of a bother. Now that you can see, go to a retinoligist and have them check you out for macular degeneraion. Often a cararact will mask the symptoms of MD.
Here's looking at you,
Scott
