I was a huge Flashman fan. Such a shame.

Jock -- what a blow. Whilst most folks knew GMF through Flashman, I will always love McAuslan, The Steel Bonnets and his autobiographical account of the Burma Campaign, Quartered Safe Out Here.
Here's the obituary from The Times:

The man could write, no doubt about it.
Lest we forget.

Fraser also wrote screenplays, including The Three Musketeers (1973) and the James Bond film Octopussy (1983). As long as we have his works, he'll be with us.

A great guy. I'll miss him. If you haven't read THE HOLLYWOOD HISTORY OF THE WORLD, or MR. AMERICAN, you have missed out on GMcDF at his best.
