Rab Gordon Sgian Dubh
A few weeks ago I was very lucky and I won a contest by the fine folks at www.kiltgoodies.com
The prize as I later found out was a sgain dubh from Rab Gordon.
For any of you that have been around for awhile can attest, Rab has received more glowing reviews than I can remember. Well, he earned every single one of them.
I received my new sgian dubh around the 20th of December and it has so far seen use at our Christmas Open House and a few other occasions during the holidays.
This thing is a beauty. It's well made, it's sturdy, it looks increbible, and it feels great to hold and to wear in my hose.
If anyone is looking for a really nice handcrafted sgian dubh by a true artist, please have a close look at http://www.rainnea.com/
I find myself more and more attracted to the products made by the true craftsmen found on this forum and on other forums. People would be hard pressed to find a mass produced product that even comes close to Rab's work. Mass produced stuff is good for somethings and it can't be beat for people wanting instant gratification for cheap, but I would prefer to wait for a product that I can pass down to my son in years to come and trust that the product will be in as good a shape than as it is when I received it.
Well Done Rab, and Thank You
Colin

I seen some leather sheaths that just didn't seem to got with the knife.
Your sheath looks well suited to that very nice dubh.

Colin-- how heartening it is to see the word "heirloom" appear. If only more people took that view, there'd be a lot less tat floating around out there.
I'm sure your grandson will get as much pleasure from that sgean dubh as you or your son will.
